The Board of Supervisors approved a utility permit authorizing MidAmerican Energy to place existing overhead power lines underground along Mahogany near 200th and Twentieth streets for about a half-mile.
Zach, a secondary roads staff member, described the work as converting above-ground line to an underground main line, generally placed on the south shoulder of the road. Supervisor Gene and others asked whether the project also includes boring under individual driveway crossings to serve private properties; Zach said the permit as written appears to cover the main line but may not explicitly cover service-line bores for each property. He said staff will follow up with MidAmerican Energy to confirm plans and whether additional permits are required for service connections.
A motion to approve the permit passed with the board noting a follow-up to confirm whether individual service bores are included in the submitted permit.
