Trustees accept joint improvement petition with Humboldt County and authorize follow-up engineer work for multiple drainage repairs

During a joint drainage session Sept. 15, Wright County trustees received an improvement petition from landowner Harold Trask for Drainage District DD162-7 and agreed to work with Humboldt County as the controlling county on next steps.
The trustees noted Trask had obtained at least three signatures for the petition and requested a new main or a relief main extending to about 130th Street; trustees said the engineer should advise whether to upsize the existing main or install a parallel relief tile. Humboldt County representatives confirmed their preferred engineering firms and discussed typical consultants used in the region.
Trustees formally received the petition and moved to appoint or solicit an engineer to study feasibility and provide cost estimates. Humboldt and Wright County representatives agreed to forward engineering contact information (Jacobson Westergaard and other firms were mentioned) to proceed with an engineer appointment.
Separately, drainage trustees reviewed findings on DD62 after a drum-camera inspection. Engineer Lee Galentine (CGA) reported roughly a dozen damaged tile outlets, about six needed surface drains, approximately 40 areas of general erosion with several large spots near the creek outlet, debris, an unusable old bridge at the lower end, and brush in the downstream quarter-mile. Galentine estimated $80,000–$100,000 to address the issues; that cost is below the threshold for a full engineer’s report but above the public-hearing threshold. Trustees instructed county staff to draft a findings template and solicit contractor quotes for the listed repairs.
The trustees also reviewed a work order for DD29 Section 16 (Vernon Township) documenting multiple blowouts; staff and a contractor were directed to proceed with repairs and provide updated costs. Trustees approved the presented drainage claims and moved to adjourn the drainage meeting.
