At its Sept. 11, 2025 meeting, the Sarasota City Employee Retirement Account Committee approved the minutes from the June 5, 2025 quarterly meeting, agreed by consensus to postpone selection of the committee chair and vice chair until the next quarterly meeting, and adopted a quarterly 2026 meeting schedule.
During a brief operations update, Valic financial adviser Trent Harris described a new client-experience outreach effort started in August. "She had 90 interactions with participants and added 15 trusted contacts, helped 25 different individuals get their beneficiaries updated and changed, and 12 on the profile updates," Harris said, describing work by a Valic client-experience advisor named Tanisha.
Approval of minutes and governance timing
A motion to approve the minutes from the committee—s regular quarterly meeting on June 5, 2025 passed without recorded opposition. The committee also discussed item 7.1 (selection of chair and vice chair) and, because not all members were present, agreed to postpone nominations and the vote until a future quarterly meeting.
2026 meeting schedule
Staff presented a proposed 2026 quarterly meeting calendar that mirrors the committee's prior-year cadence. Committee members raised no objections and signaled agreement by consensus; no roll-call vote was recorded. Staff indicated the schedule document was included in the meeting packet and will be published with future agendas.
Valic operations and participant outreach
Trent Harris reported that Valic had started a client-experience team to contact participants and assist with account maintenance, password resets and beneficiary updates. Harris said the outreach produced participant-facing actions including trusted-contact entries, beneficiary updates and profile updates, and characterized the effort as an added service for participants who do not proactively contact the local Valic representative.
Other matters and adjournment
Committee members indicated they had no further business. The chair (unnamed) adjourned the meeting at 10:38 a.m.
