The City of Eau Claire Plan Commission approved a site plan Thursday for a two‑story, roughly 25,000‑square‑foot Security Financial Bank headquarters and branch at Princeton Crossing, clearing a 3.01‑acre site for the project subject to conditions listed in the staff report.
Ryan Petrie, staff presenter, said the proposal combines several parcels into a single 3.01‑acre lot and includes a 25,000‑square‑foot headquarters building with administrative offices, a bank branch, a community/event room for trainings and public events, and a drive‑through. The site plan includes a single primary site access aligned with the adjacent roadway and a landscape plan submitted by the applicant. Staff noted that some conditions remain to be met and that coordination with Ayres Associates and other disciplines is ongoing.
Gareth Shambaugh of Ayres Associates and Mark Oldenburg of Security Financial Bank presented for the applicant. Oldenburg said the community room would be available for nonprofit groups and chamber events and that the bank anticipates breaking ground as soon as remaining conditions are satisfied. Shambaugh said the design team is working through typical site‑plan conditions and engineering details.
The applicant requested additional parking to accommodate larger training sessions and community events; staff said parking and lighting details are included in the packet and that on‑site parking should be used for events. After a brief discussion among commissioners, Commissioner Davis moved approval and Commissioner Lawson seconded. The motion carried 7–0; staff will work with the applicant to finalize the outstanding conditions and issue permits.
