City staff said the work is funded entirely through ARPA grants and does not draw from CIP funds. The project bid was specialized and staff received a single qualified bid for the track work. Staff estimated a road closure of roughly one week to complete the replacement at the specified location (identified in the contract as 5600 Sheridan Road) and said the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be involved in coordinating the closure.
Committee members asked whether the contract covered citywide track work or a specific location; staff confirmed the work is for the identified location. The committee moved and unanimously approved the contract award.
Staff said the larger CIP includes additional funding for broader track replacement projects in later years; this contract covers the immediate, specialized replacement work funded by ARPA.
