Comal County commissioners hear presentation on 2025 Fair & Rodeo; county staff promote employee wellness expo

Comal County Commissioners Court on Sept. 18, 2025 heard a presentation from the Comal County Fair Association outlining activities for the 2025 fair and asked county staff to partner on youth-education elements.
Fair Association representatives reviewed the fair's history, noting the association was founded in 1893 and highlighting traditional agricultural exhibits, livestock shows, rodeo events and youth education. Extension staff described youth-focused programming: Jason Mangold of the Comal County Extension Office said last year approximately 15,000 people visited the youth barn; the office is updating a chicken brooder and planting roughly 3,000 plants for children's activities. Lauren Strom, a 4-H agent, described the Special Heart Show, a livestock event for children with special needs that was moved into the fair schedule to reach more students; she said New Braunfels ISD expected to bus about 60 students for the program and that the show would take place 9 a.m.–1 p.m. on Thursday of the fair.
The court also heard from Kyla Chapinski, the 2025 Miss Rodeo Texas princess and Comal County 4-H member, who described her participation in youth activities and community outreach during the fair. Fair leaders introduced local volunteers and organizers attending the meeting, and the court congratulated the association on its 25th-anniversary proclamation.
Separately, Anna Molino, family and community health agent for Comal County and a member of the Wellness Works Committee, asked county elected officials, department heads and managers to support the second annual Comal County Employee Health and Wellness Expo set for Wednesday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at the New Braunfels Civic Center. Molino said more than 45 vendors will attend and flu shots will be available; the event is aimed at county employees' physical and mental well-being.
The presentations were informational; no county action was required beyond recognition and outreach support.
