Miami hearing officer enters multiple settlements, dismissals and voided citations in Sept. 18 ticket appeals

The City of Miami hearing officer’s ticket-appeal session on Sept. 18, 2025, concluded with dozens of case outcomes: the officer signed orders settling multiple citations for littering/dumping, tree work without permits, inoperable vehicles and related code violations; the city dismissed at least one case after the inspector reported the violation had been complied with; and one citation was voided when the property appraiser records showed the wrong owner had been cited.

The hearing officer also handled numerous procedural items at the session: several individuals who appeared lacked a valid power of attorney and had their appeals upheld (the citation stands) or were told the ticket would be upheld unless a valid power of attorney was produced before the hearing concluded. Several matters were reset or continued because inspectors or property representatives were unavailable; several other items were recorded as no-shows and will be processed per standard procedure.

The hearing officer opened the session with standard instructions about the quasi-judicial nature of the proceedings, evidence submission and the availability of appeal to the Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Appellate Division within 30 days of any order. The clerk and hearing officer signed orders for the items resolved at the session.
