Committee forwards Endgame’s Improv liquor-license recommendation for Mission venue

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted Sept. 11 to direct the clerk to prepare a resolution recommending that the full board approve a Type 90 on‑sale general music venue liquor license for Endgame’s Improv, 2989 Mission Street in the Mission District.
The license application drew no letters of protest or support, according to Officer Brandon Erickson of the San Francisco Police Department’s ABC liaison unit. Erickson said the location is in Plot 461, which the report lists as a high‑crime area, and in Census Tract 209, identified in the report as a high‑concentration area. The department and the committee recommended approval with conditions that limit audible noise beyond the licensee’s controlled area and require monitoring to prevent loitering and to keep adjacent areas free of litter.
Endgame’s representatives told the committee the venue, founded in 2010, provides classes and performance opportunities for local comedians and improvisers and operates two locations. An applicant representative said obtaining an earlier Type 90 license increased the venue’s revenue by about 10 percent and allowed the organization to expand a festival that brings out‑of‑town performers from Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. A public commenter who identified herself as Grace said she benefited from classes at Endgame’s and praised the organization’s community role.
Supervisor Matt Dorsey moved that the clerk prepare a resolution making the determination that issuing the Type 90 license would serve the public convenience or necessity and forward it to the full board with a positive recommendation. The motion passed on a roll call vote of three ayes: Supervisor Danny Sauter, Vice Chair Bilal Mahmood and Chair Matt Dorsey.
According to the clerk, items acted upon at the committee are expected to appear on the full Board of Supervisors agenda of Sept. 30, 2025 unless otherwise stated.
