The Metropolitan Development Commission approved a resolution recommending a five-year personal-property tax abatement for Grama US Inc.’s facility at 8517 West Washington Street in Wayne Township.
Kathy Battle, program manager with the Department of Metropolitan Development’s economic incentives team, said Grama US Inc., headquartered in Ontario, Canada, is locating its first U.S.-based manufacturing and assembly operation in Indianapolis. Staff reported the company plans $2,250,000 in real-property renovations and $4,200,000 in personal-property manufacturing equipment.
Battle said Grama committed to creating 80 new jobs with an above-average wage of $36 per hour and that 5% of the company’s estimated tax savings — reported by staff as a little more than $7,000 — will be donated to the modern apprenticeship program.
