IndyGo announces new COO, new board member and a 46-year retiree

At its Sept. 18 meeting the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation announced internal leadership changes, a new board appointment and retirements.
Jennifer Pierce, president and CEO, announced that Annette Darrow’s interim modifier has been removed and Darrow is now the agency’s chief operating officer. Pierce said Darrow brings nearly 30 years with the agency and 33 years in the transit industry, and that Darrow has led major projects including securing grant funding and service planning work.
The board welcomed new director Stan Smith, who staff summarized as having more than three decades of leadership experience in public and private sectors, and prior service as a commissioner at the Indiana Department of Transportation. Staff said Smith’s background includes executive roles at IBM, Bentley Systems, WSP and Level 5 Engineering and civic involvement with local organizations.
The board recognized the retirement of Robbie (Robbie) Wagner after 46 years, 2 weeks and 1 day of service; his last day was listed as Sept. 4, 2025. Wagner’s career path included roles as a general laborer, defect mechanic and facilities mechanic, ending his service in the body shop. Staff said Wagner served with ATU Local 1070 as a shop steward and on the union executive board.
The board also presented employee recognition awards for August, naming Samuel Abibi for safe driving recognition, Joanne Sanders as operations employee of the month, and Michael Jones as fleet employee of the month. Staff noted Sanders’ work at a high-temperature special event and Jones’ reliability and overtime to ensure fleet readiness.
Chairman Greg Hahn welcomed the new board member and congratulated Darrow and Wagner.
