The New Rochelle City Council on Sept. 16 adopted a resolution opposing Enbridge’s Algonquin pipeline expansion and approved several consent and routine agenda items, including a personnel reclassification, a local parking law for active-duty service members and veterans, the city’s 2026 public housing authority (PHA) plan, and authorization to apply for a Westchester County Complete Streets grant. Council members also amended the proposed good-cause eviction local law and set a public hearing for Oct. 15, 2025.
The pipeline-resolution — described in the meeting as opposition to Enbridge’s Algonquin expansion project — passed on a roll-call vote, 6-1. Mayor Ramos Herbert and council members voted in favor; Council member Tarantino voted no. Other items were adopted by voice vote or unanimous consent as recorded by the clerk.
