Larissa McNeil introduced herself and described her work with the commission and the Tulsa Library; the committee advanced her reappointment for a council vote on Oct. 8.
Councillor Laura Bellas opened the Urban Economic Development Committee meeting on Sept. 17 and introduced the reappointment of Larissa McNeil to the Greater Tulsa Area African American Affairs Commission (GTAC), with the new term set to expire May 1, 2027.
McNeil told the committee she works at the African American Resource Center for the Tulsa Library and that she has served on GTAC since 2022. She said she was recently appointed chair of GTAC’s culture and engagement committee and described outreach activities the commission is doing, including a monthly newsletter to inform the community about the commission’s work. “We really love to continue doing that work to share the strides that we’re making,” McNeil said.
Committee Chair Laura Bellas thanked McNeil for her service and noted the committee will vote on the reappointment at the council meeting scheduled for Oct. 8 at 5:00 p.m. McNeil was told she may attend that meeting but is not required to do so. No objections or motions were recorded during the committee discussion.
The committee’s handling of the item was brief: McNeil made introductory remarks, committee members offered thanks, and the matter will move to a full council vote on the date announced.
McNeil’s statement to the committee and the scheduling details above were recorded during the committee’s public discussion portion of the Sept. 17 meeting.
