Oak Park staff told the Finance Committee on Sept. 11 they are preparing an audiovisual (AV) upgrade for the current Village Hall that will replace aging analog equipment, enable video streaming of meetings and offer optional expanded AV to other conference rooms.
Staff said they worked with an AV consultant and engineering firm to prepare plans and that the project will go to bid this fall. The procurement will include multiple scope options so the village can evaluate cost and scale; staff said they intend to secure a contract this fall because equipment has long lead times, and to do construction in 2026. The scope focuses primarily on swapping cameras, microphones and digital AV equipment rather than altering building cabling or structural elements.
Committee members asked about leasing options to spread cost and shorten refresh cycles. Staff said leasing appears uncommon for the types of AV systems under consideration but that the village could investigate leasing or alternate procurement approaches if desired.
Ending: Staff said final plans and bid documents will be provided as the project advances; the finance committee will consider those materials alongside CIP and budget decisions.
