Resident offers to donate replacement sign for Lammers Park; council to consider name restoration at next meeting

A Hooksett resident told the Town Council on Sept. 10 he will donate a replacement sign to restore the original name of Lammers Park to "Alfred J. Lambert Riverside Park," and asked for the council's approval to install the sign.

Andy Janus described the proposed sign, said the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee had reviewed the design and indicated support, and told the council he would either purchase and donate the sign or donate the funds. Town staff provided a quote showing material guaranteed against fading for seven years and said Public Works could install the sign if the council approves.

Councilors said the item involves both a donation and a possible official name change, and asked staff to place a formal donation-consent agenda item on the council's Sept. 24 meeting packet. Councilors and committee members said the park advisory committee will reconfirm its recommendation at its next meeting; Park & Rec and the Heritage Commission had previously discussed sign designs. Councilor Kasha suggested including a small placard acknowledging the donor if the sign is accepted.
