The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a 20-acre privately requested rezoning to RR-5C and a county-initiated change to rezone 1,551.44 acres owned by the United States of America to Public Institutional Educational (PIE) to align zoning with the countys adopted future land use map.
The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 9 approved two separate zoning changes after staff and the Planning and Zoning Special Master recommended approval.
Bradley Arnold, the county administrator, presented both staff reports. The first case—ZON25-38 (Farkas C14-2 LLC)—would rezone roughly 20 acres made up of parcels C14-3, C14-112 and C14-113 from A10C (general agricultural, 10-acre minimum with conventional housing) and RR1 (rural residential, 1-acre minimum with optional housing) to RR5C (rural residential, 5-acre minimum, conventional housing).
