CITT endorses $3.05 million contract for MetroMover fire-panel upgrades

The Citizens Independent Transportation Trust on Sept. 17 recommended that the Miami‑Dade County Commission approve a contract award to Kaseko Electrical Contractors Inc. for a MetroMover fire‑panel upgrade project, with a not‑to‑exceed price of $3,054,952.40 paid from People’s Transportation Plan (PTP) bond funds.

The recommendation covers replacement of fire panels at 20 of the system’s 21 stations and includes a construction contingency allowance of $262,395 and an allowance of $168,607.40 for spare parts. Trust legal staff presented the resolution as RPQ TP‑018108, and the project was added to the PTP five‑year implementation plan in July 2025.

At the meeting the trust voted to move the item into discussion and then approved it. The recorded action in the meeting minutes is “7a approved.” No individual roll‑call votes were read into the record during the motion; the chair announced the item was approved after the voice vote.
