Mister Cottom told the board Benton Intermediate has raised roughly $60,000 and staff provided quotes and a diagram showing a possible layout near the school’s playground and basketball goals. The district will review the final layout because the area is used for other activities, including practice for track and field.
A board member asked who decides how fundraiser money is spent; Cottom said the school’s faculty and staff committee and the principal determine spending for items the school raised funds to purchase.
A motion to approve the project moved by Mister Valting and seconded by Mister McConathy passed unanimously.
