Board signs renewal IGAs for Community Corrections biennial plan; funding increases noted

The Board of Commissioners approved renewal of the Community Corrections biennial plan and signed the associated intergovernmental agreements (IGAs).
Gina Wilson, lieutenant over the Parole and Probation Division, said the plan contains mostly rewording of program descriptions and updated fund sourcing. She told commissioners the department will receive more funding across several categories compared with the previous biennium: about $150,000 more from the state GIA, roughly $10,000 more for Measure 57 funds, approximately $10,000 more for justice reinvestment and $2,000 more for transitional funding. Gina said the total in the plan is about $1,000,800.
Commissioners asked for copies of the IGAs; staff provided updated packets and said the documents begin at page 250 of the updated packet. Sheriff Bowles noted the increased funding supports the county’s probation work. The board moved, seconded and approved the renewal and directed staff to hold the signed documents until Chair Sykes returned for signature.
The plan was due Sept. 30; Gina said she preferred to submit without asking for an extension.
