County to fund small Moncure holiday street fair; organizers plan road closure and outreach

Organizer Quentin Murray told the board the one-day event will be staged on a section of US-1/Main Street between Liberty and the old Moncure Fire Department; organizers plan to close that block, steward parking at nearby properties and request traffic control through the Department of Transportation and the sheriff's Office. The small festival will include food trucks, vendors, music and family activities and Murray said the event team has coordinated with local residents and businesses.
Commissioners confirmed funds were available in the county's coal-ash account and voted to approve the requested amount. Staff said the event will require standard road-closure permits, insurance and coordination with DOT and the sheriff.
