Yolo County Housing on Sept. 17 recognized Pamela Lindsay as a recent graduate of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Family Self‑Sufficiency (FSS) program.
Households participating in FSS set personal goals related to education, employment and financial stability while HUD allows participating housing authorities to deposit matching escrow funds for increases in earnings. Housing Programs Manager Anissa Vallejo described the program and noted Pamela Lindsay enrolled in 2021.
"Pamela has successfully graduated from the program. And as part of her graduation, she has received an escrow disbursement of $9,974," Vallejo said.
At the meeting Lindsay thanked the client-services lead who assisted her in the program. "I want to thank my worker, Ami. She's been very instrumental in my support in achieving this goal," Pamela Lindsay said.
Why it matters: The FSS escrow disbursement is intended to help graduating households take steps such as furthering education or saving toward a home purchase. The authority framed the recognition as an example of the program’s role in promoting financial stability.
