Council presses staff to publish vacancies, expand hiring outreach

Staff said they are updating the website and plan to participate in upcoming job fairs and to host job fairs at the Civic Center as a recruitment strategy. Council members urged HR to post vacancies as soon as they are budgeted and to remove positions from the site once filled.
The discussion covered specific vacancies requested in the proposed FY2025–26 budget, including multiple positions in solid waste and other public services. Council members also asked for regular updates and a clearer public-facing list of department and fund codes to help elected officials and residents understand where positions are budgeted.
