Summary
The board approved a contract with SRH Landscapes not to exceed $2.3 million for Phase 1 landscaping on the 360 Tollway, covering six planting areas and including a two‑year maintenance period; staff said the work aims to be complete before the World Cup event next summer.
The North Texas Tollway Authority board on Sept. 10 approved a contract with SRH Landscapes to construct Phase 1 of landscape improvements along the 360 Tollway.
Elizabeth Mao, who presented the item, said Phase 1 will add six landscaped planting areas between the frontage road and main lanes, including trees, shrubs, irrigation, mulch, sod and concrete mow strips. The contract is an amount not to exceed $2,300,000, with a construction period of seven months followed by a two‑year maintenance period; funds come from the capital improvement fund.
Mao said the work was advertised twice, produced five bids, and SRH was the low bidder. Board members asked whether the improvements would remain after the World Cup; Mao said the plantings are permanent and would be supplemented by a phase‑2 project later. Directors also asked whether the compressed construction schedule affected cost; staff acknowledged the schedule contributed to higher costs but said the work is consistent with NTTA standards.
Vice Chair Haddad moved approval; Director Wamsgans seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
