Summary
The city presented a request to use up to $195,000 from the voluntary library fund for FY2026 purchases and programming; the item was on the consent agenda and forwarded for formal adoption.
Library Director Jack Pawlowski presented the library’s FY2026 request to use up to $195,000 from the voluntary library fund for print and digital materials, processing supplies and library programming. Pawlowski described the voluntary fund as a resident opt-in donation that appears on the monthly water bill; the fund has supported materials and the proposed allocation leaves an estimated reserve balance of about $615,000 by the end of next year.
Pawlowski said the Friends of the Library and the Library Advisory Board recommended the request and staff asked the council to approve the item as part of the consent agenda. Council approved Consent Resolution R-25-5072, which included the voluntary library fund allocation, on a 6–0 vote.
Pawlowski also noted the library’s planned Makerspace and that the requested funds would support materials and programmatic expenses tied to that and other services.
