The Winchester City Board of Architectural Review on Sept. 4 approved BAR25-263, a certificate of appropriateness filed by Bridal Catrona to rebuild a portion of a front porch at 600 South Washington Street.
The applicant described extensive water damage to the porch tongue-and-groove flooring and said the project would replace the damaged boards and repaint to match existing colors. The applicant said she intends to reuse the existing columns and railing where possible. Board members asked for a caveat that if columns or railings must be removed during the floor replacement they be returned and finished to match existing details.
The board adopted the motion to approve with that caveat. Staff said the office should not need to see the applicant return unless columns or railings were altered beyond repair.
