Catherine Ashman, Bay County Code Enforcement manager, reviewed photographs taken in April and reminded the magistrate that the earlier order had assessed $1,550 in fines plus statutory interest for noncompliance and that staff had been directed to abate the nuisance as needed. A county-contracted company performed abatement work at a cost of $500 and inspectors found the property in compliance on May 22.
Notices of final hearing were sent by certified and regular mail and posted on the property and at the Bay County Government Center; certified mail was returned unclaimed. Code enforcement recommended that the magistrate order payment of the $500 abatement cost plus statutory interest and the previously-ordered $1,550 fine, and that the amounts be recorded as a lien under Chapter 21 of the Bay County Code.
The magistrate reviewed photographs showing the property in compliance and accepted code enforcement's recommendation, closing the case while preserving the county's right to place a lien for recorded costs and fines.
