Public Works committee approves minutes and adopts 2026 meeting calendar

The Overland Park Public Works Committee on Sept. 15 approved the minutes from the prior meeting and unanimously adopted the committee’s proposed 2026 meeting calendar.
Public Works Director Lorraine Posalo reviewed the draft calendar and said staff included observed holidays and proposed changes where regular meeting dates conflicted with holidays. She noted the committee’s regular meeting slot is the fourth Wednesday of each month but staff proposed four exceptions: moving the April meeting to April 29 (the fifth Wednesday) because of Passover; meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026 (the Monday prior to the council meeting); meeting Monday, Nov. 16, 2026 (the Monday prior to the council meeting due to Thanksgiving); and meeting Monday, Dec. 21, 2026 (the Monday prior to the council meeting).
Councilmember Vermaert moved adoption of the calendar and councilmember Borlaaza seconded; the committee voted aye with no opposition. The committee record shows the calendar will be published in accordance with the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
