Felicia Trainer, assistant director of parks and recreation, presented the design and said the existing equipment had reached the end of its useful life after more than 13 years. Trainer described a modernized design that preserves existing mature trees that provide shade, consolidates swing areas for safer access, and adds two age-appropriate play structures (2–5 years and 5–12 years) that promote nonlinear, open-ended play and include communication boards to support inclusion.
Commission discussion praised past investments at Terramar Park — including field and turf upgrades and parking improvements — and highlighted the park’s multi-year refresh. No members of the public spoke during the item. The commission approved the piggyback contract authorization by unanimous roll call (motion by Commissioner Breyer; second by Commissioner Murphy Salimoni).
