Parkland commission sets FY2026 millage at 4.2979 mills, adopts preliminary assessments and first-reading budget

The City of Parkland City Commission voted unanimously Sept. 12 to confirm preliminary assessments for fire, solid waste and stormwater services and to approve first readings of the fiscal year 2026 millage rate and budget, setting the proposed operating millage at 4.2979 mills for the year beginning Oct. 1, 2025.

Finance Director Kelly Schwartz told the commission the proposed millage equals 4.2979 mills — an increase of 5.81% over the rollback rate of 4.0618 mills calculated under Florida law — and that the city is not proposing any voted debt-service millage. Schwartz said the proposed rate is unchanged from the previous five fiscal years and that the millage and assessments together are projected to generate about $2.15 million in additional ad valorem revenue for FY2026.

The budget measures presented together as agenda items 4a–4e include: reimposition of the fire-rescue assessment (Resolution 2025-062), the solid-waste assessment (Resolution 2025-063), the stormwater management assessment (Resolution 2025-064), first reading of the FY2026 millage ordinance (Ordinance 2025-009), and first reading of the FY2026 budget ordinance (Ordinance 2025-01/2026).
