Planning commission foregoes Oct. 1 meeting; staff reports recent council and BZA actions

Executive Secretary Miss McAllister told commissioners that City Council on Sept. 9 approved the cases that had come from the Planning Commission, including two zoning text amendments and other items submitted by the commission. She also said the Board of Zoning Appeals approved two special exceptions at its Sept. 16 hearing and that the commission may need to revisit the frequency of nonconforming-lot special-exception requests.
Commissioners agreed to cancel the Oct. 1 meeting and confirmed that the commission will meet on Oct. 15, when staff reported two additional special-exception applications for nonconforming lots are currently scheduled. A voice vote approved the cancellation; staff did not provide a roll-call tally in the transcript.
A committee report noted a Jefferson Avenue study and an associated public meeting scheduled at 5:30 p.m. at the Cunningham Midtown Community Center.
