At its meeting the Midland Planning and Zoning Commission approved two preliminary plats during the miscellaneous portion of the agenda.
Commerce Edition Section 6 (Item 7): The commission approved a preliminary plat for a 0.96-acre tract out of the Southwest quarter of Section 33, Block 39 (commonly referenced as Commerce Edition Section 6) to be platted as one lot for an automobile shop at 33415 West Wall Street. Planner presenting the item said the current zoning is C (commercial) and nearby uses include regional retail, hotels and a medical clinic. Staff recommended approval subject to listed conditions. Commissioner Sparks moved for approval and Commissioner Ophill seconded; the commission recorded a 7-0 vote in favor.
Llano Estacado Estates (Item 8): The commission approved a preliminary plat for Llano Estacado Estates, a proposed residential subdivision totaling 91.9 acres to be divided into 74 lots, located at the northwest corner of East County Road 140 and Farm to Market Road 1213 in the ETJ. Britt Mary, senior planner, said the plat will need City Council approval because it exceeds 25 acres and is scheduled for council on Sept. 23. Staff recommended approval subject to conditions. Commissioner Sparks moved to approve and Commissioner Martin seconded; the vote was 7-0.
Both plats were approved by unanimous commission vote and will follow the normal administrative steps, including submittal of required conditions and routing to City Council where applicable.
