Parks Board approves minutes, recommends Mound Throwdown and alcohol sale, and forwards park naming to council

Mound Throwdown event: The board recommended approval for Therapeutic Recreation Group (TRG) to hold the Mound Throwdown event at Heritage Park on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025. PJ Cradoville, cofounder of TRG, described the event as a fundraiser that supports veterans and first responders outings. The board’s motion to recommend event approval passed unanimously.
Sale and consumption of alcohol at the event: The Parks Board recommended that Town Council consider permitting the sale and consumption of beer and wine at the Mound Throwdown event. The board’s recommendation was unanimous.
Park naming: The board recommended that Town Council consider naming two newly deeded park parcels: the 2.5-acre tract within the Oak Bridge Crossing residential development as Oak Bridge Park, and the 3.5-acre tract within the Weyburn residential development as Weyburn Park. The motion passed unanimously. Staff indicated the parcels are expected to be deeded to the town at staggered times and that each naming request will be forwarded to council as a separate item.
