Barbara Dawn Lyke of Wylie addressed the Commissioners Court during the public-comment portion, urging improved communication between the court and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office following a county budget workshop.
Lyke said the county’s population growth is placing additional responsibilities on government agencies and said she accompanied court members to a visit at the sheriff’s office after the workshop. She told the court the sheriff “talked about the many letters he had written to the commissioner's court before the budget workshop for assistant needs for the sheriff's department and received only 1 letter back from the commissioner court to the sheriff.”
Lyke described the sheriff’s office as providing “excellent service to the Collin County citizens” and said she hopes communication will improve between the sheriff’s office and commissioners before the next budget workshop.
Her comments were delivered during the public-comment period; the court made no formal response on record beyond acknowledging her remarks.
