The Boerne City Council on Sept. 9 appointed Kyle Mickelson to fill the unexpired District 3 council seat through May 2026.
The council recessed into executive session to interview applicants for the vacancy created by Councilmember Scott’s upcoming departure. After reconvening in open session, Mayor Pro Tem moved to appoint Kyle Mickelson under the City of Boerne Home Rule Charter section 3.08(c); Councilman Bateman seconded the motion. The motion passed 4-0.
Council thanked the other applicants for participating in the interview process and said the formal swearing-in and appointment paperwork will occur at the next council meeting within two weeks.
Why it matters: The appointment fills a city-council vacancy and restores full representation for District 3 for the remainder of the seat’s unexpired term through May 2026. The council completed the selection process using the charter’s executive-session procedure for candidate interviews.
