At its regularly noticed meeting the City of San Antonio Zoning Commission approved a block of combined hearing items and took several procedural votes: the panel approved items 3, 4 (as amended), 5, 6, 9 and 11 on a single motion and voted to continue item 10 to the commission’s Oct. 7 meeting. The approvals forward the matters to City Council for final action; the continuance means item 10 will return to the commission on Oct. 7.
Staff announced that item 4 would be amended to remove the property at 3851 Culebra Road from the proposed changes; staff confirmed the amendment on the record before the vote. Public comment included voice mail support from Cynthia Walker on a case identified as Z2025100700200; Walker said she was calling “for Beacon Hill Neighborhood Association” in support of a historic landmark designation. Two voice mails opposed item 10 (a requested zoning change for a barbershop at 302 East Sunshine Drive): Janet Hernandez and Osiris Kent both left messages saying they opposed commercial zoning for that location and asked to be counted as opposed.
Motion and votes for combined hearing: Commissioner Rob Sipes moved approval of items 3, 4 as amended, 5, 6, 9 and 11; Commissioner Bartos seconded. Roll call showed the motion carried (record indicates unanimous votes in favor by the commissioners present). Staff confirmed the amended language for item 4 before the motion was made.
Motion and vote for continuance: Commissioner Sipes moved to continue item 10 to the Oct. 7 meeting; Commissioner Bartos seconded. The motion carried on roll call.
Other routine business: The commission approved the meeting minutes by acclamation, and the chair announced a forthcoming vice‑chair vacancy and a planned election for vice chair (and pro tem should pro tem be elevated). Approved items and the continued item have been recorded and will follow the standard referral and re‑notice processes as applicable.
