Bee Cave council appoints Bill Pittman interim police chief after executive session

Following an executive session on Sept. 9, the Bee Cave City Council unanimously appointed William "Bill" Pittman as interim police chief.
City Manager Julie recommended the appointment from the dais: "I would like to make a recommendation that we appoint, Bill Pittman as the interim police chief," she said during final council action. The motion to appoint carried by unanimous voice vote.
The appointment followed public comment earlier in the meeting from resident Jenny Broch, who praised Lieutenant Pittman’s long service and urged the council to place him in the chief’s role. "Lieutenant Pittman has the knowledge, the experience, and most important, a history of keeping B. C. safe," Broch told the council during the citizen comment period.
The council placed the item on the executive session agenda under Texas Government Code sections 551.071 (consultation with attorney) and 551.074 (personnel). The council made the appointment in open session after returning from executive session.
