Parent accuses Mayor Pro Tem Jessica Alexander of encouraging outside agitators at Day Middle School; Alexander responds

A parent who identified himself as Abneet Dhaliwal used public comment at the Temecula City Council meeting on Sept. 9 to accuse Mayor Pro Tem Jessica Alexander of encouraging outside protesters at Day Middle School and of misgendering a transgender student.

Dhaliwal said about 20 students and 20 adults gathered and that many adults were from outside Temecula. He alleged Councilwoman Alexander “was right there shaking hands with them and welcoming them into our community” and that she “posted an edited video attacking the teacher on her official mayor pro tem social media account.” Dhaliwal said the outsiders had latched onto the district over a single transgender student and urged the council not to elevate Alexander to mayor because, he said, her actions had endangered a child. He also raised separate safety concerns about crosswalks and traffic near local schools, noting two girls hit by a motorcycle outside Great Oak High School and other near‑misses during pickup.

Mayor Pro Tem Jessica Alexander later addressed the council from the dais and described attending a morning drop‑off area with her children and other parents. She said she did not attend in an official capacity and that she felt harassed by a resident who followed her while recording. She said she went to observe and compose herself, and asked that public conversation be civil. In the meeting transcript she said she “never went there posing as your city councilwoman” and that she had been asked by mothers to be present.
