Council says Monterey will operate ambulance service beginning Oct. 1

City staff said the contract’s execution culminates more than a decade of work and that operational control will transfer to Monterey on the effective date. "Just today, hot off the presses, it's been fully executed, countersigned by the folks in Monterey," a city staff member said during opening remarks.
Officials emphasized the transition should be seamless for residents. "You won't even feel the difference. And if you feel any difference, it'll be that it's actually better service," the staff member said, adding that the only visible change for personnel will be a different patch on their uniforms.
City staff thanked ambulance personnel and Monterey administrators for cooperating during the transition and acknowledged staff who worked on employee transition details.
