The Saint Joseph County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to participate in the Purdue Pharma opioid settlement, a step county counsel and outside counsel recommended.
County counsel noted that participation in the settlement was recommended by outside counsel but said the county will not know the amount it will receive until later proceedings in the related bankruptcy case. "We will not know the amount that we will receive until later proceedings in the bankruptcy case that this is involved in," a county official said during the meeting.
The board recorded aye votes from the commissioners and the motion carried.
