At its Sept. 2 meeting the Van Buren County Commission elected its officers for the 2025–26 term and approved a personnel appointment.
Commissioners re‑elected Kale Crane as chairman and selected Terry Hickey as vice chairman; the nominations ceased and both were elected by acclamation. The votes were taken by voice when nominations were closed and recorded as agreed by commissioners.
Separately, the commission accepted the resignation of county historian G. Brock and appointed Abby Sullivan to the position at the recommendation of the Van Buren County Historical and Heritage Museum. The motion to accept Brock's resignation and appoint Sullivan was moved by Commissioner Jordan Long and seconded by Commissioner Michael Woodley; the commission recorded the motion as passed by voice vote.
Commissioners said the appointment came with an expectation of continued coordination with the Historical and Heritage Museum. No compensation, term length, or reporting requirements for the historian position were specified in the meeting minutes provided.
