Trousdale County commissioners discussed maintenance and potential upgrades to local parks and recreation facilities, including courts and splash-pad options, and said staff will pursue grant applications.
Commissioner 1 summarized that the county lost revenue in recent seasons and that limited amenities at the county pool (no seating, deteriorated tennis courts) contribute to low use. Commissioners discussed options such as new courts, volleyball or football areas, splash pads and seating improvements to increase attendance.
Commissioner 1 said the county is applying to Blue Cross Blue Shield for a grant to assist with improvements and noted Landon had previously suggested using ARPA funds. Commissioners said they will revisit budget options and obtain ballpark cost estimates so the commission can decide whether to invest in upgrades.
No funding commitments were made at the meeting; staff were instructed to gather cost estimates and to return to the commission with figures for discussion.
