Sullivan County commissioners placed seven draft resolutions on the consent calendar during the Sept. 18 work session. The items were read briefly, discussed as needed, and, where no objections were raised, placed on the consent calendar for formal approval at the commission meeting.
The items placed on the consent calendar included: acceptance of a $20,000 allocation from the Department of Archives for the county’s 250th anniversary activities (item 1); a $7,470 Tennessee State Library and Archives technology grant (item 2); acceptance of state tutoring reimbursements (item 3); a workforce learning grant for student work-based learning (item 4); sale/transfer of surplus highway equipment to a municipality (item 5); a mandatory pre-disaster hazard letter required for grant eligibility (item 6); and a $23,346 appropriation for technical support for the county EMA (item 7). For several items commissioners noted existing budget authority or that the funds were already in departmental budgets.
Each item was presented with a short explanation by the sponsoring commissioner or staff, the floor was opened for discussion where appropriate, and, when no objections were raised, the chair stated, “Without objection, item number X is placed on the consent calendar.” Those items will be finalized at the next formal commission meeting.
Ending: Commissioners said they would consider the consent items as a package at the upcoming commission meeting; no individual consent items were removed for separate discussion during the work session.
