Arc of St. Clair County asks Springville for continued gala support, seeks van funding

Representatives of the Arc of St. Clair County presented to the council and thanked the city for prior support. The Arc’s junior board members said the organization provides daytime programming and life-skills training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and that demand includes transportation to community activities.
The Arc delegation requested the city’s continued support of its annual fundraising gala in December and noted last year’s event netted roughly $30,000 after expenses. The organization said its current fundraising priority is to purchase a new van to provide participant transportation to appointments, shopping and recreational trips.
Council members acknowledged the request and noted a line-item for the Arc was included in the proposed budget; the council took no additional formal action at the meeting.
