At the opening of the session, Bedford County commissioners adopted the meeting agenda and approved minutes from the July 22 meeting. Commissioners then heard routine monthly reports from county staff and accepted them by motion.
Staff noted little activity in the first month of the new fiscal year but explained standard accounting patterns: some property tax collections posted as prior-year receivables; early-year spikes in travel, food and fuel as purchase orders and tank refills are processed; and department variances that appear in the packet in red reflect above-average expenditures. EMS and other departmental reports were included in the packet though several department representatives were not present.
A motion to approve the monthly reports was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
