Mobile County Extension introduces new 4‑H educators and promotes open house tied to Auburn giving day

Knowlton said Kimberly Hatchett has joined 4‑H after working in the public school system as a career-technical teacher at Bryant High School. Peyton Brook Fulford comes from a theater and performing-arts background, and Katie Werneth holds degrees in horticulture and has been active as both a 4‑H participant and a master gardener.
Knowlton asked the commission to note an upcoming open house scheduled the coming Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John Archer Center. The event will be held in conjunction with Auburn Tiger Giving Day, a 24-hour grassroots fundraising program run by Auburn University; Knowlton said Auburn-approved projects have raised funds over the years and that one of this year’s approved projects is a three-day forum camp aimed at teaching youth “money, math, meals and manners” (the four M’s). She said the Tiger Giving Day process has funded hundreds of projects and has generated about $6,000,000 over time statewide through the 24-hour fundraising cycles.
Knowlton thanked the commission for its annual support and appropriations and said agents and master gardeners will be at the open house to highlight programs and network with the public. The commission offered welcoming remarks to the new educators; no formal action was recorded.
