Staff described a proposed contract with Meltwater News U.S. Incorporated for press-release distribution and media monitoring; the packet lists a price of $6,500 annually and staff requested the item be scheduled for formal consideration at the commission's next business meeting.
Other items staff asked to carry forward to a future agenda included requests to: approve a county booth at the Alabama National Fair; consider a resolution establishing a 2026 severe-weather preparedness tax holiday; consider an amended Montgomery County Taxpayers Bill of Rights resolution; and consider amendment No. 1 to a contract with Hills Janitorial Services to extend janitorial services for specified county facilities through Oct. 5, 2026. Staff also listed miscellaneous appropriations and budget-change requests that staff asked the commission to place on a future agenda for formal action.
Commission discussion on these items during the informational session was brief. Several commissioners said they saw no objection to moving routine administrative items to a formal agenda for consideration.
