Council OKs one‑year extension for code‑enforcement software; staff stresses it is not an AI tool

The City Council on Aug. 28 approved addendum number 1 to the existing business agreement with Commcade Inc. to continue software services for the Community Development Department’s code‑enforcement division.
Scott Irwin, Community Development, said the software supports case intake, tracking, photo documentation and mobile field reporting for violations such as overgrown grass, junk vehicles and unsafe structures. The extension will keep the department on the same platform and preserve mobile inspector functionality, dashboards and reporting.
During discussion, Council member Clint asked whether the software was an artificial‑intelligence product. Scott Irwin replied, “No, sir. This is data management of our system as it currently exists.” The council approved the one‑year extension without recorded opposition.
Staff told the council the software helps manage enforcement workflows and reporting and that the department will continue to respond to neighborhood concerns about code enforcement by using the platform to track performance metrics.
