Highlands board honors Dr. Jim Demchak for years of service coordinating labor relations

Deputy Superintendent Andrew Lethbridge introduced Dr. Demchak and described his role leading negotiations for teachers and noninstructional staff across multiple districts. Lethbridge said Demchak “was a fierce negotiator and advocating for teachers and noninstructionals” while also seeking common ground and keeping student interests central in bargaining.
Dr. Demchak accepted the board’s recognition and reflected on his career, saying he prioritized relationships and putting students first. The plaque presented by the board recognized his service from 2014 through 02/2025.
Board members and the district thanked Demchak for his service and noted his role in helping sustain constructive labor-management relations in the district.
