Summary
A Creekwood subdivision resident presented a petition asking Hendersonville leaders to add a bicycle/pedestrian right of way, speed humps and a 25 mph speed limit, saying the measures are needed to match safety features in other neighborhoods.
Robert Little of 314 Raindrop Lane told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen during the citizen comment period that Creekwood subdivision residents feel they have been denied safety features afforded to other neighborhoods and asked the board to act.
Little said he had discussed the issue with aldermen and staff but that "despite these meetings, nothing has changed." He listed the specific requests: a bicycle and pedestrian right of way, speed humps and a reduced speed limit of 25 miles per hour. "These are not luxuries. These are basic safety," Little said, adding that residents believe the law and existing guidance support their request and delivered a petition to the board.
Little said the neighborhood did not seek special treatment but asked for parity with other subdivisions that have the features. The board accepted the petition during the public comment time; no formal action on the petition was recorded during the meeting.
