Niskayuna resident urges Schenectady County legislature to enforce 25 mph limit during public comment

Mike of Niskayuna, who gave his address as 3554 Consul Road, told the Schenectady County Legislature during the privilege of the floor that he has repeatedly asked the Town of Niskayuna to reduce speeds in front of his house and is seeking county assistance to enforce a 25 mph speed limit in towns and hamlets across the county.
"25 miles an hour saves people's lives," Mike said, repeating a point he attributed to the governor and arguing lower speeds would protect pedestrians and property. He described prior attempts to get help from the town and said he has been threatened while walking near his home. He also said his son was killed in a crash about an eighth of a mile from his house.
The chair noted the rules for privilege of the floor, telling the speaker that legislators would not engage in a back-and-forth during the floor period, and asked that comments be directed to the chair. No county action was taken at the meeting in response to the comment; the transcript shows the chair thanked the speaker and closed the privilege of the floor after other callers concluded.
