City updates: paving schedule, new fire engine ceremony and Levitt AMP voting push

Public Works: The public works lead said crews have been doing road patching and repairing water and sewer cuts; upcoming concrete work will include repairs at Fire Station No. 1 and wastewater plant tasks. Paving was scheduled for the end of the month on Locust Street, Lynn Street, Hill Street and parts of High and Walnut streets. Staff said striping bids will be issued soon so streets can be striped after paving. The city also plans to plant a roughly 16‑foot decorative tree downtown in the near term for the holiday season.
Fire Department: The fire chief (unnamed in the transcript) said the department’s new engine will arrive Thursday. The department planned a customary bay push–in ceremony and invited board members to attend and inspect the truck.
Levitt AMP grant effort: A Main Street McMinnville representative said the city applied for a Levitt AMP music series grant that requires a community vote to secure funding. As of the report, McMinnville ranked fourth in Tennessee and 22nd nationally; voting was open through Sept. 15. The presenter clarified that voters can participate multiple times only if they vote for different cities — McMinnville may be voted for once per voter — and urged residents to follow voting instructions posted on Main Street McMinnville and the city website.
Board members thanked staff and recognized ongoing operational work. No board action was required for these updates.
